Markley Urges Residents to Stop Busway

From Sen. Joe Markley’s Desk:
Dear Neighbor,

The deadline to STOP federal funding for the Busway from New Britain to Hartford is Monday November 7th.

Here’s your chance to make a difference.

The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) and Citizens for Government Waste agree $600 million for a 9 mile busway is a waste of taxpayer money.

The NTU has set up a web page for you to easily send a letter to Congress opposing the project.

Fire, CO Dangers High With Restoration

Over 180 Connecticut residents were treated for Carbon Monoxide poisoning statewide as of Wednesday night, Governor Malloy told a press conference. As residents increasingly are using generators, and some ventilation systems fail, emergency responders are being summoned to prevent death from a quiet winter killer.

Symptoms of Carbon monoxide are vague and mimic the flu. They often include headache and nausea. Extreme cases can include disorientation and lethargy as carbon monoxide replaces oxygen in a victim’s blood circulatory system. The brain and other organs cannot use carbon monoxide, starve, then slowly die. Fresh air and emergency treatment are imparative for anyone suffereing these symptoms.

Legislators To Hear Constituents

Rep. Rob Sampson

State Senator Joe Markley and State Representative Rob Sampson will both be at Pat’s IGA today from 4:30 – 6:30 for a “Senator on your Sidewalk”. Any resident may stop by to talk with Markley about any topic in an informal setting, or just say hello.

Their appearance comes just a day after the legislature approved a jobs bill as well as a $300 million deal to bring Jackson Labs to the UConn Medical campus in Farmington. Both voted
