Markley Urges Residents to Stop Busway

From Sen. Joe Markley’s Desk:
Dear Neighbor,

The deadline to STOP federal funding for the Busway from New Britain to Hartford is Monday November 7th.

Here’s your chance to make a difference.

The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) and Citizens for Government Waste agree $600 million for a 9 mile busway is a waste of taxpayer money.

The NTU has set up a web page for you to easily send a letter to Congress opposing the project.

You can find the link here.
Congress should use its oversight authority and deny full funding to the project until all other alternatives have been explored.

Call U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood:

Call Connecticut’s delegation and tell them to vote against this project. It will run through their district towns.

Congressman Chris Murphy (5th district):

Congressman John Larson (1st District):

We can put the brakes on this project together!

  1. So, if we stop the project until all other alternatives are explored, will we be willing to live with the results of that analysis and the level of spending that will require? Or are we just against spending any money on any public project?
