Day of Fun Kicks off Weekend

Its no joke that September is a busy month, this weekend in particular in the area. All day Saturday a <a href="CrossroadsFUn” target=”_blank”>”One Clean Day of Fun” will be held behind Frisbie School. This is an event will feature free food, and a wide variety of events and exhibits for residents of all ages. Besides face painting and a DJ, there will be lives music featuring six different bands, pizza and a bonfire in the evening. All events throughout the day are free.

This event is sponsored by <a href="CrossroadsFUn” target=”_blank”>Crossroads, a group of citizens that share resources to residents with drug and alcohol addictions.

Zumba, Karate, and even a horse show will be highlighted during the afternoon. See attached <a href="CrossroadsFUn” target=”_blank”>flyer for the schedule. The event is free.

The Five Alarm Chili Festival sponsored by the Waterbury Fire Historical Society and Waterbury Neighborhoods Council is today SUNDAY in Waterville Park from noon – 5 pm. Be sure to line up early as the chili usually runs out fast. A $5 donation will give you rights to tasting and judging.

Two irish festivals are entertaining celts from Danbury to Hartford today and tomorrow. Pipes in the Valley in Hartford begins with a parade of bagpipers at noon with Scottish games throughout the afternoon including the caber toss. This sport involves men picking up the equivalent of a telephone pole and tossing it into the air end over end. Music entertains throughout the afternoon. The event is free in Riverfront Park. The Greater Danbury Irish Festival runs into Sunday with musical and dancing entertainment at the Westside campus of WCSU.
