Shoreline Needs Volunteers, Beaches Open / Closed


Vacationers over Labor Day should be aware that many of Connecticut’s shoreline communities are not ready to handle large numbers of visitors since Hurricane Irene wreaked havoc last weekend. Water, ice, and volunteers are still needed in many towns where assistance centers have been set up. Here are stories about how to help and what to be aware of along the shore:

In an effort to allow residents affected by the Hurricane to relax a bit for the weekend, Gov. Malloy has ordered all fees to be waived at state parks for Labor Day. Yet, some parks are still closed from the affects of the hurricane. A list of Open and Closed State Parks and Beaches are here.
