Soldiers’ Flag Raised

The American Flag flying above Town Hall this week isn’t just any old flag. Almost two months ago, that flag was half a world away aboard an Apache Attack Helicopter being flown into a combat mission in Afghanistan. Joe Cicio, a member of WHS Class of 1980 is a member of the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division based in upstate NY who helped send the flag to Wolcott.

“Its an honor to have this flag to raise on Flag Day,” says Mayor Dunn during a brief ceremony Tuesday. The flag will fly for one week at Town Hall, then be placed on public display.

The flag was originally intended to be part of Flag Day, however vandals disrupted traditional ceremonies by deflating bus tires last night.
