Public Invited to Bonding Information Session Tonight

After two severe winters, some of Wolcott’s roads are crumbling. Frost heaves, heavy rains, and simple ageing has resulted in cracking of streets on the main roads and residential side streets alike. Thomas St. in the north end is filled with cracks. Travelling along Catering Rd. bounces drivers along as tires hold onto the road’s surface. Chestnut Hill feels like it is sinking into the ground in some sports and Forestview Dr. required careful negotiation during the winter months. Mayor Dunn will be presenting his plan tonight at 6:30.

Tonight the Mayor will hold an informational session about what streets he would like to bond money to fix. “Its going to be a multi-year project, but we can do somewhere between 25 and 30 miles of road with his proposed bonding project. More details on cost will be available tonight.

In addition to roads, other projects will be discussed. THe Board of Education has been asking for a waterline to the High School for many years. A fire truck needs to be replaced, and there has been talk about expanding the Woodtick Walking Trail to complete circuit around Scoville Reservoir.

The Session will be at 6:30 tonight at Town Hall. All are welcome to attend and ask questions during the forum. It will NOT be televised.
