School Buses Damaged, Classes Resume Wednesday

Classes in town were cancelled Tuesday after bus drivers found 28 buses with deflated tires just before 6:00 am. Wolcott police responded and gathered evidence to find out who may have caused the damage. Valve stems were damaged or tires slashed on 39 tires in total which took most of the day to replace, says Superintendent Joseph Macary. The last day of school won’t change though since Wolcott’s Board of Education plans for 184 days of school, four more than the state requirement of 180.

A similar crime took place in New Milford last week and according to media reports, police are looking into if there is any similarity or copy-cat motive.

If anyone has information as to who may be responsible for the damage sometime Monday night into Tuesday morning, please contact Wolcott Police. 879-1414.
