Tornado Watch Issued for Area

A tornado is inevitable to hit Connecticut this summer.

For today, the humidity is building to a point where heavy rain is expected. A strong cold front is moving in from the west and is expected in our area between now and 5:00 pm. A tornado watch has been issues for central Connecticut. A watch means that atmospheric conditions are ripe for tornadoes to emerge. Hail and straight line winds can also be present. A warning means that a tornado signature on radar has been observed or a spotter on the ground witnesses a funnel cloud form.

Sacred Image to Visit Connecticut

EAST HAVEN — The parish family of Our Lady of Pompeii in the Foxon section of East Haven is planning to welcome the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Pompeii from Italy for veneration on June 6. A special Mass in honor of the visit will be celebrated at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 355 Foxon Road (Route 80) in East Haven. The Mass is open to the public and no tickets or prior reservations are necessary.

Most Rev. Peter A. Rosazza, auxiliary bishop emeritus of the Archdiocese of Hartford, will be the principal celebrant, and Rev. John L. Lavorgna, parish administrator, will be the homilist for the Mass, which will be conducted in English and Italian. Continue reading by clicking here…
