Legislative Quote of The Day

A freshman legislator from Redding summed up why Hartford can’t get anything done. Three months into the legislative session, only a handful of legislators have so far had a part in framing the budget deficit. On an unrelated bill, the following exchange occurred:

“Does this have to be done through legislation? Why can’t it be done administratively? That’s kind of escaping me” asked Rep. John Shaban, a Republican from Redding.

“At the end of the day we may not necessarily need this piece of legislation,” responded Sen. John Kissel, the Enfield Republican who proposed the bill.

– exchange in the legislative Judiciary Committee over a proposed law to limit what books are available to prisoners. Puh-lease!
