Body Found Near Buttermilk Falls

Plymouth and State Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a body found in the woods just northwest of the Wolcott border. According to media reports, police were called to an area off of Little Hill Lane which leads to a midpoint of the Mattatuck Trail near Buttermilk Falls. The Falls are a sequence of waterfalls formed by the Hancock Brook. Many residents are familiar with the area because the Mattatuck Trailhead begins at Peterson Park. It continues across Spindle Hill Rd, Allentown Rd. in Plymouth and finally to Lane Hill Rd. near where the body was found. The trail continues through the Hancock Brook area which is full of wilderness woods and maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. From there it eventually leads to Litchfield.

No further information was available on the investigation as of noon today.

If you have any information concerning any suspicious activity occuring along the trail during the past week, please call police at (860) 626-7900.
