A series of public hearings on hundreds of bills are being held in Hartford. And Tuesday will be a busy day at the Capitol.

First there’s a public hearing at 10 a.m. on bill that would allow alcohol to be sold on Sundays. Click here for more background on that issue.

Next, there’s a public hearing at 11 a.m. on Sen. John McKinney’s proposal to close Middletown’s Riverview Hospital, which is the only state-run children’s psychiatric hospital left in New England. Click here to read the bill. At the same public hearing by the Higher Education and Employment Advancement Committee, Allen Sack of the National Players Association, will be flying in to discuss a bill regarding college recruiting practices.

Then there’s an informational hearing on the state’s prevailing wage law at 1:30 p.m. The debate over the prevailing wage pits municipalities against labor unions. Click here for more background on that issue and here for a study done by the labor community.
