Rep- Am Gets Senate Announcement Wrong

Hopefully the Waterbury Republican- American writes its events in pencil. At least they have the Whisper to back them up with timely corrections. On page 5B today they announced Paul D’Angelo, a candidate for the 16th Senatorial District would be holding a fundraiser for his campaign at Paisano’s Restaurant tonight. However, the actual date is March 3rd, not February 3rd. Current State Senator Sam Caligiuri is not seeking a 3rd term in the seat. Instead, he is challenging US Congressman Chris Murphy for the 5th Congressional seat. Murphy was a State Senator from the 16th immediately before Caligiuri.

“They got it wrong,” said D’Angelo while still inviting residents to his announcement one month from now. D’Angelo currently holds a seat on the Waterbury Board of Education. So far no Democrats have indicated they intend to run for the seat. Two other Republicans are also expected to announce their intentions. D’Angelo is the first to set his sights on the seat thus far.

The 16th Senate District includes all of Wolcott, Southington, the northern quarter of Cheshire, and the East End and Bucks Hill sections of Waterbury.
