The weather will be unusually warm on this Columbus Day weekend with a number of fun outdoor events for area residents.
Scouts Host Activities
Wolcott’s Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will be hosting a variety of fun activities for elementary and middle school aged children from 1- 3 pm today at Peterson Park. The fun day is free.

Have you had your fritters yet? While Southington’s Apple Harvest Festival wraps up today from noon – 5 pm on the Southington Green, the world-famous Fritter Booth, cooked up by the Zion Lutheran Church will be open until 6 pm. The free street fair features plenty of apple related food made by local community organizations and venders. The Southington Elks host a beer garden and rock music at their club headquarters adjacent to the green. On the main festival stage, a Southington Idol competition will be held from 1 -2 pm and the band Wing It will close out the day from 2:30- 4 pm. Many local restaurants will feature outdoor seating to visitors and area streets will be closed. There is plenty of free parking and toilet facilities for this annual tradition.
